Thoosa Desktop was originally developed in 2013 for the Royal Air Force Medical & Dental Equipment Maintenance Department, to ensure that engineering technicians were appropriately trained.
Following its successful implementation, it became apparent that the need for a dedicated, fully featured competency management application, extended far beyond the military requirement.
In 2017, Poseidon Software Solutions redeveloped Thoosa for commercial use, modifying certain aspects of its functionality to better meet the needs of commercial organisations.
Following an extensive and highly successful trial across both public and private sectors, Thoosa Desktop was officially released in April 2018.
The updated desktop application performed well overall. However, supporting a multi-desktop architecture proved problematic. This prompted us to expand the team and begin development of a fully web-based variant.
Development of the minimum viable product (MVP) was completed in January 2021 and our internal testing of the application was very successful. The next stage was to trial Thoosa Two at some pilot sites in order to demonstrate that the application met the needs of demanding organisations.
The initial release contained most of the features that were provided in Thoosa Desktop, along with some additional functionality that we developed having listened to the feedback from our clients.
Released in November 2021, Thoosa Personal is a secure, feature-rich mobile app that gives staff direct access to their professional credentials and competency records.
Thoosa Personal keeps staff connected, compliant, and empowered to manage their data. It offers full access to all features available to a Thoosa staff user, ensuring a seamless experience across web and mobile. More Details
Thoosa Personal is available for both iPhone and Android devices from the App Store or Google Play.
Thoosa Passport is a simple, secure way for users to share proof of their competencies with anyone, anytime, anywhere.
Using a unique QR code on their mobile device, users can generate a time-limited webpage that displays up-to-date competency details.
The Thoosa digital passport provides time-stamped accreditations and associated certificates, which can be downloaded and used as evidence that key competencies are currently held and valid.
The Thoosa Platform was successfully trialled within a subsidiary of an NHS Trust, and we’re proud to see it now adopted as the primary business tool
for competency compliance within their Medical Engineering departments. Notably, they recently achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certification with
Thoosa playing an integral role.
In the coming months, the subsidiary plan to extend Thoosa’s use into additional departments, broadening its
impact across the organisation.
Our goal is to grow our client base steadily, focusing on organic, well-managed adoption that maintains the quality and service our users expect. As part of this approach, we continue to enhance the Thoosa platform with new features and refinements, shaped directly by the evolving needs of our clients. This client-led development ensures that Thoosa remains both relevant and responsive in supporting real-world operational requirements.
