Thoosa Desktop was originally developed in 2013 for the Royal Air Force Medical & Dental Equipment Maintenance Department, to ensure that engineering technicians were appropriately trained.
Following its successful implementation, it became apparent that the need for a dedicated, fully featured competency management application, extended far beyond the military requirement.
In 2017, Poseidon Software Solutions Ltd. redeveloped Thoosa for commercial use, and extended its functionality to include unique algorithms that prioritised training and provided budgetary projections.
Following an exhaustive and highly successful trial period, Thoosa Desktop went on general release in April 2018.
The feedback from the trial was so positive that we decided to take on extra staff, and commence development of a fully web-based variant.
Development of the initial release was completed in January 2021 and our internal testing of the application has been very successful. The next stage was to trial Thoosa Two at some pilot sites in order to demonstrate that the application meet the needs of demanding organisations.
The initial release contained most of the features that were provided in Thoosa Desktop, along with some additional functionality that we developed having listened to the feedback from our clients.
Thoosa has recently been successfully trialled within an NHS Trust and we are very proud that it is now being used, within their Medical Engineering departments as their main business tool for competency compliance. Over the forthcoming months, the Trust will be extending the use of Thoosa into other departments.
We have recently released Thoosa Personal. This is a secure and fully featured mobile application that allows staff members to:
Thoosa Personal is a companion for Thoosa Two and is available for both iPhone and Android devices from the App Store or Google Play.
Thoosa Passport is a simple scheme that allows you to share your accreditations with anyone you show your phone to.
A QR code that is available on your phone links to a time-limited webpage that displays your competency details.
This time-stamped passport, along with the certificates can be downloaded and used as evidence that the required competencies are currently being held.
The Thoosa Two developers are keen to demonstrate that our new application will meet the competency compliance needs of a wide range of sectors, and if you feel you might wish to be considered as a potential pilot site, please contact us
